We have been continuing to storyboard our A2 music video to our chosen song. We have nearly finished and planned out our narrative well and in detail. We have used storyboards that separate the song into bars of 4 beats so that our video flows well with the music. It ensures that we have many shots to be able to convey our narrative through.
The piece starts with 4 people holding up signs with reasons why they are 'in too deep' written on them. They are standing along the path to a school (we will be using our school), which is downhill. The last person we see will be the main character (our male actor) holding up his sign before he enters the building. The rest of the narrative follows that he is in love with a popular girl from school and she seems to have an interest in him. Their friends do not approve as they are from different sub groups within school. These will be shown as quite stereotypical as we wish to show the audience this clearly. Her group will be seen as 'popular' and his group shown as 'nerds' almost who listen to pop punk music. At the end they are seen to both like this genre and they embrace. Throughout the video in the bars leading up to the chorus we are going to have both the boys and girls friends lip singing the lyrics. The chorus is going to be made up of the lyrics of each 4 beat section spelled out in various interesting ways following the teenage theme.
We have chosen this theme as the pop punk genre is generally associated with teenagers and most music videos of this genre seem to follow this. We wanted to convey the idea of being 'in too deep' in a relatable way. We figured what better way than to incorporate a teenage romance?!
